The activities entail the development of a 250MW photovoltaic solar facility, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure on the farm Kannikwa No. 156, Registration Division Namaqualand, situated within the Richtersveld Local Municipality area of jurisdiction. The town of Port Nolloth is located approximately ~14 km west of the proposed development (refer to the attached locality maps).
The project entails the generation of 250MW electrical power through photovoltaic (PV) panels and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The total footprint of the project will be approximately 3754 hectares (including supporting infrastructure on site), the developable area is approximately 541 hectares. The property on which the facility is to be constructed will be leased by Cordelia Solar Power Plant (RF) (Pty) Ltd from the property owner, for the lifespan of the project (minimum of 20 years).
