A 1,87km long grid and 1,7km to 692m wide connection corridor is being assessed for the placement of the power line route. The development of a 132kV overhead powerline is to connect one of the Merapi BESS facilities (Chives, Parsley, Saffron or Thyme) to the Merapi Eskom 275/132kV main transmission substation. The connection includes the loop-in loop-out to existing powerlines or the construction of a new powerline within the limits of the grid connection corridor. The grid connection corridor is approximately 1,6km south east from the town of Excelsior and falls within the Mantsopa Local Municipality, within the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality in the Free State Province (refer to the attached locality map).
