Tarentaal Energy Facility (RF) (Pty) Ltd intends to develop a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Energy Facility and associated infrastructure within the Bela-Bela Local Municipality. A BESS is a utility-scale energy storage facility designed to store electrical energy for later discharge into the grid. The system typically comprises modular battery units housed within containerised structures, together with associated power conversion systems, transformers, control systems, and safety infrastructure. BESS facilities enable grid stability, energy balancing, peak shaving, and the integration of variable renewable energy sources by providing rapid-response energy dispatch capabilities.
